Alternate Nostril Breathing Technique

Smooth, slow deep breathing through alternating nostrils

 

Remember, it is important to stay relaxed and calm while practicing.  You may return to your normal breath pattern at any time.  If you experience dizziness, return to your normal breath pattern until you get used to the breathing technique.

When not to practice alternate nostril breathing:

  • If you have a cold or sinus infection
  • If you are pregnant, consult with with your doctor before practicing any breathing exercise that requires breath retention of any sort

To start off, begin with one to three minutes, working your way to five to ten minutes a day.
